We protect an area of roughly 25 square miles in the Southern portion of Columbia County. Our primary response area consists of Conyngham Twp and a small triangle of Roaring Creek Twp. There are approximately 750 residents in this area all being within the village of Aristes. The coverage area boundaries are set as follows: North- Conyngham Twp/Locust Twp line separating our area from Valley Chemical Fire Company of Numidia's area; East- Columbia County, Roaring Creek Twp/Schuylkill County, Union Twp line separating us from the Ringtown Valley Fire and Rescue's area; South- Conyngham Twp/Centralia Borough line separating our area from Centralia Fire Company's primary area: West- Centralia Legion Post on SR 3006 which separates our area from that of Wilburton Hose Company's primary area. The previously described area is then broken into 4 alarm cards based on initial rescue company and 2nd due ALS/BLS and available water for fire attack. They are Box 350-01 (village of Aristes and West to the Legion), 350-02 (Aristes North to the Locust Twp line), 350-03 (Aristes to the Schuylkill County line), and 350-04 (South of 1st St. to the Centralia Borough line). The 350-02 box, while not being our busiest and other than wildlife not being populated presents what may be our most significant risk with the Aqua American water company having facilities there along with the newly formed State Game Lands that surround the water ways. The vast majority of our coverage area is on what is known as the Aristes Mountain which presents its own set of problems, since we get more snow here than most of the lower lying areas around us. Mutual aid is greatly affected by this not only because of the increased snow, but no matter where you come from you need to come up a mountain to get here.
In addition to this area we provide an automatic aid status to the entire southern tip of Columbia County. We are automatic disptach for all emergency responses in the Wilburton Hose Company and Centralia Fire Company coverage areas. Through mutual aid agreemtents responses take us to the following on either a 1st or 2nd alarm status: Columbia County- Locust, Cleveland and the remainder of Roaring Creek Twps, Northumberland County- Mount Carmel Twp and Schuylkill County- Butler, Union and East Union Twps along w/ Ringtown Borough. Additional requests have had our apparatus respond to Columbia County- Catawissa Twp, Northumberland County- Mount Carmel and Marion Heights Boroughs, as well as Coal Twp, Schuylkill County- Ashland and Shenandoah Boroughs and North Union Twp.
